The sales girl gave me the change but i forgot within a split second.. demanding her that she forgot to give me change while i had unknowingly put it inside my wallet. Damn embarrassing. Cant imagine myself laughing for 2 hours thruout

for a moment i was laughing at the two guys cos they totally have no mo qi.. when the shuttlecock flies towards them.. they jus stand at their own position watching at shuttlecock fly past them and land on the floor. lol

The next moment 3 person was playing against 3 person. I joined that two guys who were super scared of me smashing the shuttlecock.. cos i once hit on one's butt with the shuttlecock and the other on the thigh. oh well. i'm dangerous! they siam!

A great new year eve with a bunch of great frens and a whole AA night (ie. we are super attracting attention! =x )

Well.. i shall not mention the disappointment of the closure of the field and the whole row of dSLR standing by along the marina bay that we managed to squeeze into and a nice lady allow me to position my dSLR in a pretty nice location.

Seems like the battle of who's tripod is taller.

But.. still need more practise. haha.. all my photo cmi! shld really need to go and find how to set the exposure cos slowering the shutter speed dun allow me to take photo cos of underexposure.

Well.. probably my digicam can do an even better job!

Jus switched on the tv and watched a really touching commercial on organ donation..

If u didnt realise, i think MOH is having this campaign on organ donation and the name of the campaign is called "Live On".. a series of commercials will be aired in november and one of these commercials is really touching.. its on a kind ger meeting an accident with parents deciding whether to donate her daughter's heart to someone in need. (sorry cant find the video cos it jus broadcast only.. catch it on tv probably at around 7 to 8pm commercial!)

Think u guys might have already come aross this commercial so many times on tv.. but i cant help finding how moving this commercial is even after seeing it so many times. Her ad is always reminds u of values and meaning of life that people always tend to overlook in life.

This commercial was directed by award winning film director, late Yasmin Ahmad from malaysia. Its jus saddening to learn that she passed away this july.

And i got a sudden urge to go orchard today and it happened to be the lighting up ceremony for the xmas decorations in orchard today!

There were a lot of boys bridages and the guest of honour for the event was President Nathan! There were also a lot of Harvley Davidson motorbike cos it's part of the opening ceremony..

Road was blocked before the light up.. But we didnt noe it starts at 7pm until daddy told us while we were already eating our dinner..

And ate at new sakae outlet in wisma.. It's much nicer than the northpoint outlet!
And look at the BIG BOWL of ramen.. omg.. the bowl is even bigger than the crystal jade lamian bowl.. (-.-)

So happy that we managed to get onto the West Coast Plaza shuttle bus and got to West Coast Plaza (Yeah XJ!!! We did it!!!)

And i cant believe that protein became our common topic. And cant believe we actually chatted really happily abt x-ray crystallography, mass spect, hydrogen-deuterium exchange, NMR, her research, and my honours project. Had a really interesting conversation other than asking abt the courses.

For the first time i'm feeling so proud of my lab and project. HAHA. And she went on to ask who is my prof which i suddenly need to think a while before i can ans =x
Cos his full name too long liao lah.. cannot blame me.

She's a really nice prof!! And the assistant at the side was really nice too!! the prof even waved me goodbye even though we were 2 doors away and she's talking to someone else!

I love that place. Cos i always walked off with an even greater sense of direction in life.

Had a quite scary experience in vivo today.

Was walking into adidas when i saw quite a no of ppl crowding around inside
Thought it might be some event in adidas
but heard a male shouting at the top of his voice

when i manage to have a peek
saw the manequin toppled
and a man shouting hokkien at someone
asking him to come out of the shop to talk

At first i thought he was unhappy with the staff
but when he walked out of the shop..

Heard another man shouting!

More and more ppl were crowding outside adidas shop
and being "concerned"
i walked out of the shop to see wat was happening

OMG!! 2 men were fighting with each other outside the shop!!

One guy was being pinned down onto the floor
and the other guy above him was shooting his fist right into the other guy's face
He's bleeding!!

Ouch!!

Even many ppl on the second storey were watching!
and ppl frantically getting their phone out to video it! (-.-)

Their female partner trying to pull them apart.
The fierce uncle was being pulled away
while the younger guy (around 30s?) was pulled away by his gf

omg.. dunno wat reason they quarrel
fighting in public
and in a shopping centre with lots of ppl on a public holiday.

After they stopped fighting..
ppl gradually moved away..
and the 'fighters' moved off

but a min later..
5 vivo security officers ran pass me in the direction where the 'fighters' left!!
oh dear.. dunno if they fight again!!

Really horrible week.

I have nv reach home early enough to study for my tests and I am too tired that I kept falling aslp once i started reading my notes.

So i wake up every morning before the sun rises to study.

And efforts were not paid off.
Scaring me that my protein will ppt if i dun run gel filtration.
I am so sick of making mistakes yet again.
8 litres of culture.
30g of cells.
break and purify like crazy.
wasting my precious time to study for test.

why dun tell me things earlier
after i done everything
then tell me "sorry, forget to tell u this n that"
make me panic
my volcano almost erupt
almost feel like crying
but i manage to control myself.

and i forgot abt my poor tuition kid
made her wait in my house while i'm still on bus 95 home.
feel so sorry for her
and she's got chem prelim the nxt day.
while i have gek test the nxt day.
and she went home late
and i ate my dinner even later
and study even even later
and woke up even even and even earlier to study. again.

glad that this week is over.
but more things are coming up.

and i finally have time to apply for scholarship.

I dun rememb having so many projects to do in a semester.

Block party for Lift Upgrading Program. There was a lot of kids and almost all of them rushed up to the stage to play game and win prizes.

Magician from channel Suria. He's damn good!

He can even make a normal table float! And the kid on stage was so amazed *Jaws drop*. It was such a flawless performance and i couldnt even spot any traces of evidence that make the table float!

I'm so damn happy that i managed to finish the women's sundown 10km!!!

Had a great sense of achievement and i cant believe that i perserve till the end!!

All thanks to the participants who motivated me to keep running and volunteers who cheered at the road side (: Its my first time running for such long dist and my first time running continously without stopping for the first 6km!! Wee~ I'm so proud of myself *winks*

Its really great to run in the night esp the last few km when u're running along the changi beach. Great feelings and cooling air! Got a medal and hat at e end of the race (:

Medan trip

I was damn blur the 1st day and went to the wrong airport. Dunno who on earth like me can also make such stupid mistake.

But anyway.. was heng enough to arrive in T1 in time for boarding. *phew*

Went medan to visit relatives (which i dunno who are they) and was being caught up by the immigration officers for interview cos its our first time there (ps. but later i heard that they do these to get tips from foreigners =x).. Of cos we are not so stupid to give them tips (although we dunno that giving tips is the norm there)

managed to use my lousy first generation canon ixus camera to take the sunrise on plane!

Uncle brought us to eat the famous medan hokkien mee.. but i still prefer the sporean hokkien mee *opps*

The teh and kopi there are damn sweet.. but the kopi everywhere were damn nice even for someone who seldom drink kopi like me!

Streets

Went to a five star hotel (.. i think...) for dinner for the 1st nite @ somewhere called capital building (heard that its open by a singaporean businessman). It was raining damn heavily that nite and the roads were all flooded up till half the car tyre *wao* I think i was quite amazed that everywhere is flooded even though it jus rain during that nite and all the cars are driving in water (..my heart would be so painful if its my car..).

Although its a 5 star hotel (.. i think..) and really nice ambience and seems like only rich indo chinese will dine there, the electricity tripped 4 times!! Wat a really exciting experience to dine in the dark suddenly.. haha..

Mountain behind me is a volcano!! This mountain is very tall, like genting, cos its above clouds! Although its not as cooling up there..

They offer horse rides.. but i dun dare! haha.. and the horsey poo poo is all over the roads =x

This tue's Zao An Nin Hao was a really special one cos it featured my ex-lab's achievement for the past years! I was attached to the lab headed by Dr Chow in IBN last year.

Three person from my lab was featured on Zao An Nin Hao and Channel News Asia on their breakthu in portable dialysis kit. Although i woke up late, I managed to catch the repeat of Zao An Nin Hao (:

OMG!! They become my idol now!! haha.. previously they were featured on Straits Times and rod has won the gold medal for the Science and Engineering Fair this year! Congrats!! Envy man..

There's so many things that i want to update but let's take one at a time.

Today is a very suay day at home.

I woke up this morning to find that my house has no water (o.O)" And truely speaking, i totally forgot that today is the 20th and forgot to remind my family to store up some water due to water pipe repairment at my block!! Die... by the time i woke up, the construction has already started ):

And even we didnt store enough water, we also didnt cook enough water!! I only had enough water to brush my teeth *sobs* Luckily mummy was at home and we went to another block to collect some water! Feels like some rationing activity or water drill like that cos the water supply is disrupted for the whole day. But it seems like we are the only household that forgot to store water. =x

Anyway, it made me realise how precious water was. If u throw me into Africa without food and water, i think i'll jus probably die there. Haha.. so treasure wat we have and not take things for granted (:

Didnt noe that Mandai Crematorium is so high tech.
The moment i step out, i saw an electronic signboard indicating a list of the deceased and the corresponding viewing hall.
It doesnt feel like a crematorium at all.
More like a hospital.. or maybe airport.
But both are sort of related.
The earlier sick and the later sending off.

It takes a long time to come to this world
but it takes such a short time to disappear frm earth.

Each of these makes me reflect on life.
And each of them is a turning point.

Everyone has to go thru these one day.
I'm not entirely upset.
Its just that my eyes suddenly turn into a faulty tap.

Damn unhappy that my room is filled with the smoke smell once again

Damn unhappy that the ashes is blowing into my room although my windows are tightly shut and curtains drawn

Damn unhappy that after my window is closed.. my room is dark and i have to switch on the light for the whole day. wasting electricity and of cos.. $$

I can only smell smoke now, nothing else.. I think i'll get lung cancer one day.. or migraine.. or nasal cancer.. watever. Maybe someone shld carry out a research on how constantly inhaling smoke from burning can affect your health.

And the smell sticks to my bed.. i dun like slping with the smoke smell on my bed.

Unhappy that i'm stuck at home studying Nation building once again. A module that i quite hate.

Ya.. I need to find time to file a complaint letter to sembawang town council (daddy did be4 and no response frm them). Maybe petition from the whole block will be a good idea to get their butts moving. I hate organisations that simply ignore complaint letters and do nothing. Then wat's the point of feedback? At least give me a explanation why u are not doing anything right? They shld change the architect.. this is ridiculous to build the burn incense thing directly down the window of so many households and its so near such that ppl like me living on the 8 floor can be affected! And i'm sure that a lot of ppl like me were affected lor.. a few blocks beside mine also have the same design. There must be sth-else that they can improve the situation!

I switched on the TV and realise that its the Ping Pong show on channel 8 after the Auntie on holiday show ended yesterday... and OMG.. almost the whole show was shot in NYJC!!!!!!!!!!!

Its not as if i really like them, but the fact is that my school nv attempt to ask any pop stars to come our school be4...sad right... I can still rememb last time that they say FIR was coming to NYJC, but dunno why they suddenly cancelled it.. and then that's the end of my JC life, without any happenings happening in my school.. (maybe its becos its still renovating so nobody wan to come).

And thinking abt NUS, how come it doesnt have campus concerts too? Haven heard of any since ages but i keep hearing that the stars always go NTU over the radio.. zzz.. NUS shld do sth abt it.. seriously NUS life shld be more exciting than this.

Another busy week has gone by and phew.. ES presentation and report are over!!! YEAH!!!!

Although i didnt have much time to prepare for the presentation becos of relief teaching on sun, everything went smooth and well. Congrats team! (:

Anyway, talking abt relief teaching part. I only 1 word to describe - Tiring! (p.s. especially teaching the P6 classes.)

But the p6 students are hyperactive and very noisy!! Maybe its becos i'm reliefing so they wan to bully me. *opps*

One of the p6 ger very cute and funny. When she came into my class, she sat beside me (anyway the room isnt as big and the class size was big).

ger: Teacher.. can i ask u one qns?
me: Yes.
ger: Teacher.. how old are u?
me *stunt* U guess?
ger: u just graduated?
me: around there.

Then.. the conversation carries on..

ger: Teacher, u study in which uni?
me: *stunt again* U guess?
ger: NTU?
me: no
ger: NUS?
me: yup.
ger: which major u study?
me: lifesciences
ger: wat is lifesciences?
me: *stunt again.. how shld i explain..* Hmm.. we study abt cell and DNA..??!!
ger: WAH!!! so interesting!!! I also wan to study that!!!

And then...

ger: Teacher, wat's ur name?
me: *secretly think that i shldnt reveal my name becos the whole class will take it as a joke* Hmm.. Just call me Ms Liang.
ger: oh.. ok.
ger: *start to stare at me*
ger: Teacher.. your necklace very nice!
me: *stunt* thanks (:

And when the class gets too noisy and one of the boys was very naughty (lets call him boy1)..

same ger: Teacher, i tell u ah.. just now boy1 told us that he want to bully the new teacher!
me: *stunt*
same ger shouting to boy1: Hey!! dun bully the new teacher!! If not nxt week i tell Mr A (original teacher of the class).
me: *wah.. she's so helpful* Haha..

But the class was really difficult to control, esp the p6 boys.. they are very hyperactive! When its time to play games.. u can see how ENTHU they are.

The boys will rush to the front of the class, standing in front of me, waving their hands in front of me, jump here and there, shouting all the different alphabets they can think of for the hangman. haha.. wat a sight.

For the other p6 class, instead of rushing to me, they sit on the table raising their hands frantically, afraid that i cant see them. Haha.. and the gers are always the well behaved ones... sat at their seat and raise hand.

But it was all very fun, other than the naughty boys which i keep shouting and threatening to take away their stars or tell their misbehavior to the other teacher. But after some time, it wasnt useful. and I realise that something is more useful - suddenly keep quiet, call the name, and stare at one of them - can conserve my energy and when he will realise that i'm staring at him, he keep quiet.

Sec sch classes are a hell lot diff from pri sch class. u muz be nice to them so that they will talk. if not u will expect a non-responsive class.

Haha.. think i'm too enthu until i realise that this blog post is too long. But i still got so much that i want to say! Anyway.. do hw first. haha!

Went to Biobiz today with Qin and Jiayin and saw a few life sciences peeps there..

Wat can i say abt the event? It's really successful! So many people signed up for it and it'a surprising that there's quite a number of working population that joined this event too (other than the NUS and NTU people).

I thought that the networking session was really good as u can ask the pharmaceutical 'giants' directly abt the career opportunities and job offerings that they have. In total, there were abt 8 pharmaceutical company booths with my fav GSK there! *Wee*

But when we were asking for internship opportunities, most of the companies told us to go thru NUS instead of applying individually. OMG.. If my school really have internship program, we dun have to look for one ourselves already. (-.-)"

Alrights, going to 8.30pm soon. EARTH HOUR.

But i got a lot of things to do!! So many things are piling up on my table and i've yet to do it. ES occupies so much of my time. Eeks!

Coming mon is the ES presentation and i've yet to look at my script thoroughly!

And i haven even have the time to edit the ES CA2 or type out my nxt blog post on Biodata.

I haven look at the Nation Building tutorial, not mentioning abt the readings.

And Nation Building CA2 is coming and i pray to get a B so that i'm safe to S/U and i can forget abt studying hard for exam. Haha..

I've yet to look at the secondary school test paper qns and the ans. Hope the students dun ask a lot of *intellectual* qns tmr. (by e way, i'm relieving another teacher in a tuition center for the whole day tmr).
